REM Behavior Disorder

Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Behavior Disorder (RBD) is a sleep disorder in which a person acts out their dreams. Our dreams occur during REM sleep. Our body is effectively paralyzed during this sleep stage, which prevents us from actually performing the activities that we are dreaming about. In RBD, the body is not paralyzed and the person may talk during sleep and also unfortunately punch or kick their bed partner. In rare cases, people have jumped out or fallen out of bed.
