Exercise in Parkinsons disease

It is important to continue to exercise at a level commensurate with the persons clinical abilities. As Parkinsons disease involves muscle stiffness, stretching exercises such as yoga or tai-chi may be helpful.  Longer duration, low intensity treadmill exercise has been found to be more effecttive at improving gait function than high intensity, shorter duration treadmill exercise in a study by Dr. Shulman.
